Known as Bessie, she was killed when a parachute mine landed on the road outside her home during the Easter Tuesday Raid, Her father James, mother Jeannie, brother William and two policemen in the RUC barracks next door also lost their lives as a result of the blast.
Bessie’s body was never identified and she has no known grave. However, her name does appear on the headstone of the family in Connor New Cemetery.
