Emily was killed by falling debris at the home of her neighbours, the Clarkes, at 4 Ballynure Street during the Easter Tuesday Raid.

Her children William, Margaret, Sarah, James and Samuel were also killed in this incident along with the Clarke and Thompson family.

Emily is buried in Belfast City Cemetery with her children William, Emily, Sarah and Margaret.
