Ernest was killed by a bomb explosion on Blythe Street during the Easter Tuesday Raid.

His mother Mary Jane, brothers David and John, uncle David, aunt Violet and cousins Vera and Ella also lost their lives.

Sarah Thompson is also recorded as being killed by enemy action at 95 Blythe Street during the Easter Tuesday Raid.

Ernest is buried in Belfast City Cemetery.
