Private Herbert Perkins was killed when a gun emplacement on East Twin Island was hit by a high explosive.

He and six others from his unit, 9th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment and three from 175 Battery, 66th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, were killed.

Private Perkins is buried at Tiverton Cemetery.
