James lost his life at his home on York Street during the Easter Tuesday Raid.

Twenty two people in total were killed here including his wife Martha and children Elsie, Sadie, Norman and James.

James’ body was taken to St George’s Market where he was identified by his brother in law.

He is buried in Belfast City Cemetery.
