Ordinary Seaman James Taylor lost his life when his ship, HMS La Malouine, a Flower-class corvette that was docked in Belfast, was damaged by a near miss.

His ship mate, Stanley George Ash was also killed.

He was the son of Edward and Annie Taylor, of Bristols Hope, Newfoundland and is buried in Belfast City Cemetery.
