Jeremiah was presumed dead as a ‘consequence of war operations’ at an inquest held at Belfast City Hall on 19 June 1941.

He lost his life at his home on Ballynure Street during the Easter Tuesday Raid along with his wife Lavina, sons Robert, Jeremiah, William, John, Cecil and Desmond, daughter Una, son-in-law John and granddaughter Joan. Their neighbours, the Douglas family, had taken shelter with them and were also killed.

Jeremiah has no known grave.
