Known as Sammy, he was presumed dead as a ‘consequence of war operations’ at an inquest held at Belfast City Hall on 19 June 1941. He lost his life at the home of his neighbours, the Clarkes at 4 Ballynure Street during the Easter Tuesday Raid.

His mother Emily and siblings William, Margaret, Sarah and James were also killed in this incident along with the Clarke and Thompson family.

Sammy has no known grave.
