Our free tours provide engaging learning experiences that link to our collection and support the NI Curriculum.

Our free tours of the museum use museum objects and artworks to tell the story of life on the Home Front in Northern Ireland during the Second World War. Topics covered include the Belfast Blitz, the American presence, the Ulster Home Guard and the contribution of local industries to the war effort. Tours of the museum last approximately 45 minutes to an hour and are usually best facilitated in the afternoon.

These tours are particularly suitable for GCSE History students who are studying the CCEA GCSE History option ‘Changing Relations: Northern Ireland and its Neighbours, 1920-49’. Students can also avail of our Belfast Blitz Cathedral Quarter self-guided walking tour which explores sites of interest in the city centre and how they were affected by the air raids.

As a charity we are pleased to offer a Travel Grant of up to £200 per school to assist with transport costs to the museum. This a pilot scheme for a limited number of post primary schools and grants will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
