The memorial wall is lined with highly polished Belgian black marble, known as Noir De Sable.

A granite hexagonal plinth representing the six counties of Northern Ireland sits in front of the marble and contains two volumes of the Roll of Honour, naming over 10,000 who died in the First World War and over 4,700 in the Second World War.

The Memorial Wall and granite plinth were key features in the original War Memorial Building and continue to provide a focus for remembrance.
